Money can't buy you love; nor can it buy you happiness. But it just might bring you peace of mind. The Big 3 commercial Linux vendors; Canonical, Novell and Red Hat are ready to serve you through support subscription services for your Linux infrastructure. There are some big advantages to using commercial vendor support for your systems: 24x7 priority support, fixed support costs and experts who know your operating system inside and out.

All three companies provide two basic levels of support: Standard and Priority. Standard is support during normal business hours and defined as either 9x5 or 12x5 support, depending on the vendor. A priority-level subscription buys you 24x7 support and one-hour turnaround on priority-one incidents. All subscription models include unlimited incidents. Prices vary widely between vendors, but all are on a per-machine basis.

If you have a dynamic IP from your internet service provider it gets annoying when they change your IP and you do not know it, therefore you are not able to connect to your computer remotely anymore. Well Dynamic DNS services fix that problem by assigning a domain to your IP address whenever it changes. This howto will cover getting No-IP, a Dynamic DNS client working.

First if you do not have a No-IP account, create one by going to no-ip.com and registering.

It will send an email to you so you can verify that you want to create account. Click the verification link in your email and it will send you back to the No-IP site.

Log in to the site with the account you just made and click Add under Hosts / Redirects.

There are as many reasons to work with bugs as there are people doing it. I think mostly it falls into two categories: 1. The people that just want to make Ubuntu as clean and user-friendly as it can be, and 2. The people that want to improve launchpad karma. The Number One reason we should be working on Ubuntu bugs is Bug No. 1. I guess, for me, it's a little of each. I started by just reporting bugs and realized I could get something in return other than satisfaction. Now I have become interested in the mental challenge of reporting complete bugs, finding and reporting duplicates, and trying to help Users learn to report good bugs. Please understand that I'm pretty much a Linux Gnuub. I haven't really learned the packages or which log files to attach well enough to be considered a good Bug Guy; I just try to do better.

Ok, I'm going to assume that you've already read Part 1. If that is so, you're going to love this because most of the previous info applies. Instead of downloading Wubi, create a USB Startup Disk. Wubi will be on the drive. Once this is completed, the USB drive can be used to do the wubi install described in Part 1 with one significant difference; you will not need to download all the files as they will be on the USB thumb drive already.

Creating the USB Startup Drive is a very simple procedure by itself:

Launch the USB Startup Disk creator tool from System->Administration->Create a USB startup disk.

If you know someone that is interested in Ubuntu Linux but not ready to make a commitment to changing over all at once, Wubi makes for a great introduction to Ubuntu and a simple way to run both Operating Systems until a decision can be made. Wubi allows you to install and uninstall Ubuntu like any other Windows application. You get the benefits of using a LiveCD without the slow speed inherent in them. It's simple and safe: there's no need to burn a CD/DVD. Wubi doesn't require any partition modification, or special drivers. It's very safe because it keeps most of the files in one folder. Best of all, Wubi and Ubuntu are free and functional and without the aggravation of activation or restrictions on it's use.
